If you’re unsure whether your situation fits within midwifery care, we can talk through your history together.
Homebirth is typically an option for people with a healthy, low-risk pregnancy and a desire for a more intimate, family-centered birth experience. During your initial consultation and early prenatal visits, we’ll review:
• Your health history
• Any prior pregnancies or surgeries
• Current pregnancy labs and screenings
If risk factors develop, we’ll discuss options and, if needed, collaborate with or transfer care to an appropriate provider. Your safety and your baby’s safety are always the priority.
Most homebirths are straightforward, but we are prepared for situations that need extra support. At every birth we bring:
• Equipment and medications appropriate for community birth
• Skills to recognize when things are no longer normal
If a non-urgent transfer is needed, we’ll go to the hospital we’ve discussed ahead of time and continue to support you there as part of your team. For true emergencies, we call EMS and coordinate care so the hospital is ready for your arrival.
Vita Nova Midwifery believes in transparent pricing. We offer a global fee that typically includes prenatal care, on-call availability, labor and birth support, immediate newborn care, and postpartum visits.
Some families use health insurance, health-sharing plans, or HSA/FSA funds to help with costs. We’re happy to provide a detailed receipt (superbill) you can submit to your plan, and we can discuss payment plans during your consultation.
Yes. One of the benefits of homebirth is the ability to shape your own environment. Partners, older children, doulas, and other trusted support people are welcome, as long as you feel comfortable with them there.
We’ll talk during prenatals about who you’d like at your birth, ways to prepare siblings, and how each person can support you so that your birth space feels calm, safe, and respected.
